First Impro-Mime Session
1945 rue Fullum, MontréalFree admission. A voluntary contribution of $5 is suggested.

This first Impro-Mime session laid the foundations for the project: returning to the practice of physical improvisation in a relaxed setting, encouraging encounters among artists and trusting what emerges in the moment. The exercises focused on space, group listening, dynamo-rhythms, otherness and identity. Straight or curved pathways, eclipse duets, zero-anticipation improvisations and collective compositions offered ways to explore different relationships between bodies. The session also introduced principles that would remain important afterwards, including negotiating physical contact, the right to leave the activity and particular attention to performers’ safety.
