impromime

This Impro-Mime session was devoted to the relationship between mime and music. The aim was to observe how sound could influence physical improvisation without becoming a mere illustration of movement. Participants worked through several setups, in solos, duets and groups, with or without prior discussion. Some proposals required beginning without music; others called for sound and movement to enter simultaneously, while some exercises played with sudden musical breaks. The laboratory sought to bring out different ways of listening, reacting, building a situation and allowing music to transform rhythm, dramaturgy and relationships between performers.
