impromime

This Impro-Mime session used different types of masks to observe how concealing the face transforms the body, character and relationship with the audience. A first part devoted to carnival masks worked on parading, attitudes and dramatic conflict. The performers then approached more abstract forms using faceless masks and veils, through compositions inspired by sea shanties and improvisations in which everyone could freely enter or leave the space. A final series involved expressive or functional masks. The experiment made it possible to revisit the same constraint under different masks and observe how profoundly they changed the performance.
