impromime

This gathering devoted to mime and poetry explored how words can settle in the body and, conversely, how movement can change the way we listen to a poem. The performers discovered many of the texts during the session itself, favouring a spontaneous relationship between reading, voice, gesture and space. Quatrains, solos, duets “translating” between speech and movement, and collective compositions made it possible to experiment with different forms of resonance. Texts by José Acquelin, Marc-André Brouillette, Martine Audet and Michelle Lalonde contributed to the work. Rather than illustrating the poems, the session sought to allow the images, rhythms and gestures they could evoke to emerge.
