Impro-Mime: Mime and Audience Participation
Fullum coin Coupal, MontréalFree admission. A voluntary contribution of $5 is suggested.Children admitted · Gender-neutral restrooms · Elevator

This Impro-Mime session sought to narrow the usual divide between performers and spectators. Several exercises were designed to let the audience directly influence the improvisations or even join the artists on stage. Participants worked with flocking, successive journeys through environments triggered by spectators, a quartet combining storytelling, movement, stillness and percussion, and a character-swapping game controlled by the audience. Another experiment linked sounds to particular places in the space or different parts of the body. The session ended with a “mime jam” in which audience participation gradually increased the number of performers.
