impromime

This Impro-Mime session was devoted to the repertoire of corporeal mime and movement theatre, used as a starting point for improvisation. Participants moved through a series of proposals inspired by Étienne Decroux, Théâtre du Mouvement, Dulcinée Langfelder, Théâtre de l’Ange Fou, Aline Gélinas and Omnibus. Each exercise drew on a principle, image, constraint or structure from an existing work, without trying to reproduce it. Instead, the aim was to turn these references into living material: inventing a trade, bringing a place into being, exploring absence, working with opposition to oneself, freeze frames or transitions between tableaux. It was a way to revisit the repertoire through practice and observe how its techniques can still inform contemporary improvisation.
